The appointment was for the planning of new visitor facilities and entrance at the Faerie Glen Nature Reserve in Pretoria. Facilities needed to include an administrative office, restaurant or tea garden, and a lecture facility for school groups.
Various alternative positions for the visitor’s facilities were investigated as part of the ecological assessment of the resort, workshopped with the community and role-players, and submitted for EIA Authorisation.
The project included the conceptual layout for an interpretive trail including historical elements and viewpoints along an existing hiking trail. Basic architectural impressions for the visitor centre were also developed together with a floor plan and guidelines for the centre.
